Welcome to R2BeWell!

We're excited to be partnering with your school to be bringing you the R2BeWell stipend this year.

Whether you are new to this program or returning, please read the sign-up instructions below carefully as some steps may have changed:

Why does this stipend program exist?

Because we believe that when adults thrive, students thrive.

Because we believe that well-being is not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Because we believe that well-being is optimized when it is personalized and when it is developed with the support and accountability of others.

How are we funded?

We are funded by the Room to Breathe Project, which is a foundation that supports the mental health and well-being of youth ages 0-12 and the adults who support them. We work in partnership with the SF Education Fund to bring R2BeWell to our partnering schools.

What is R2BeWell?

Room to Be Well (R2BeWell) is a stipend available to ALL members of an educator family (i.e. Teachers, Paras, Admin, After-School Staff, Custodians, Cafeteria Staff, Counselors, etc.) on an SFUSD elementary school campus to help promote their well-being.

Confirmed participants will receive a $275 stipend each semester they sign up to use toward a well-being practice of their choice.

We trust that you know better than anyone else what makes you well.

What is well-being?

Positive psychologist Sonja Lyubomirsky has said that there are three main determinants of happiness:

Set point (the stuff you start out with)

Circumstances

Intentional activity

Notice how large the orange section is! The R2BeWell program is geared toward exactly that: intentional activity. Happiness is not static– there’s a lot you can do to change.

Through this program, we hope that you develop an ongoing well-being practice that will help you to form NEW positive well-being HABITS, or maintain ongoing positive well-being habits.

What kinds of practices can I choose?

We encourage you to use R2BeWell as an opportunity to try something new, and to explore beyond what you may traditionally think about when it comes to your well-being.

Some things to consider as you choose your practice:

  1. Is there an activity/class/experience I’ve been curious about trying but haven’t had the time or money to do it?

  2. Will this practice help me to form NEW positive well-being habits?

  3. Will this practice help me to MAINTAIN ongoing positive well-being habits?

  4. Is this a practice I can sustain over time?

What's not eligible: Do not use this stipend for paying down debt, donating to an organization, any form of online gaming, a one-time vacation, or buying gifts for others (unless it is a consistent act of kindness practice—see "Acts of Kindness" category under Social + Emotional Health in the Menu). While those items may contribute to your well-being, they are not what R2B intends your stipend to be used for.
